Established in 2021 and based at Stonham Barns Park, Suffolk, SGT is a guitar tech service offering servicing, setup, modifications and restoration to guitars and other fretted instruments. 

Josh has over 30 years experience in playing and modifying guitars, and a Batchelor of Science degree in Audio Technology. Having been trained both through experience and in person with guitar techs and makers in the UK, Josh opened his workshop in 2021.

Here are some commonly asked-for services. Any job honestly considered and priced on application. Accurate estimates can only be given after an in-person inspection.

Initial Consultation - £ free

Guitar/ Bass Service and Setup   £45

• Fretboard clean, body clean, re-string, neck relief, action, strings radiused to board, intonation, tremolo float, electrical contact clean and pickup height (all where applicable) set.

• D'Addario EXL strings (standard 6 string guitar gauges) supplied for £5 extra, or supply your own. 

• Your choice of bass, 12 string or other strings supplied at cost. 

Fret Dress  £90

• Fret levelling, crowning and polish

Re - fret (unbound, unfinished board) from £180

Re-fret and refinish of maple neck - £POA

Re - fret (bound board)  from £240

Nut or Saddle Replacement from  £35

Bone Saddles and Nuts (carved from blanks) from £80

Electrical work (pickup/pot/switch replacements, etc.) from £20 - please note -  semi-acoustics, where electronics are accessed through f holes, take more time.

Body repairs and restoration £POA

Electrical and body work preliminary assessment -  free

Labour charged at £35 per hour. This includes circuit design.

Minimum charge  on any job (eg re-string) £20. 

All parts charged for at cost.

Terms of work

Unless agreed in advance, please make sure that you are able to collect and pay for the work on completion, within a reasonable timeframe. 

Should you not collect your instrument within 2 weeks of completion, full payment should be made.
