Established in 2020 and based in Needham Market, Suffolk, SGT is a guitar tech service offering servicing, setup, modifications and restoration to guitars and other fretted instruments. 

Josh has over 30 years experience in playing and modifying guitars, and a Batchelor of Science degree in Audio Technology. Having been trained both through experience and in person with guitar techs and makers in the UK, Josh opened his workshop in 2020.

Once you have established contact via a phone call or message (text, WhatsApp or FB/Instagram Messenger), we will agree a time for you to drop your instrument off. We will then talk through your needs and agree a timeframe for completion. All work is documented and a data sheet/itemised worksheet included as a receipt. 

Here are some commonly asked-for services. Any job honestly considered and priced on application:

Guitar/ Bass Service and Setup   £40

• Fretboard clean, body clean, re-string, neck relief, action, strings radiused to board, intonation, tremolo an pickup height (all where applicable) set.

• D'Addario EXL strings (standard 6 string guitar gauges) supplied for £5 extra, or supply you own. Your choice of bass, 12 string or other strings supplied at cost. 

• Electrical contact clean, £5 extra.

• Floyd-Rose tremolo setups, £10 extra.

Fret Dress  £90

• Fret levelling, crowning and polish

Re - fret (unbound board) from £180

Re - fret (bound board)  from £240

Nut or Saddle Replacement from  £30

Bone Saddles and Nuts (carved from blanks) from £80

Electrical work (pickup/pot/switch replacements, etc.) from £30 - please note -  semi-acoustics, where electronics are accessed through f holes, take more time.

Body repairs and restoration £POA

Electrical and body work preliminary assessment -  free

Labour charged at £30 per hour. This includes circuit design.

Minimum charge £30. 

All parts charged for at cost.
